About Therapy
As I clinical psychologist and cognitive analytic therapist, I integrate science, psychological theory and clinical knowledge in order to understand and relieve psychologically - based distress or dysfunction as well as promote a better understanding of yourself. I will not tell you how to live your life, but rather I will help you discover your own solutions by developing a higher level of awareness of the impact of what you are doing and how you relate to other people.
We will recognise how you see the situation, how it evolved and what you are seeking.
We will explore how you can adapt and change yourself; at the same time learning to accept and value yourself and if you wish, do your part to improve your relationships with others. The aim will be to manage your life more successfully.
As a clinical psychologist I trained and work using a wide range of psychological therapies. I attend regular continuing professional development events. After qualifying, I chose to train in greater depth in Cognitive Analytic Therapy. There are many different types of therapy, but what I like particularly about this approach is its focus on working on the real relationship between therapist and client and how it usefully blends ideas from other approaches. In therapy I won’t be telling you what to do; instead we will seek to understand the relationship patterns you have developed and discover what it is that works well about them and what you would like to develop differently.
